Firefighter I now consists of Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (BEFO) w/ Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations AND SCBA/Interior Firefighting Operations (IFO). Students must take and pass BOTH courses in order to receive a Firefighter I certificate. Course Descriptions can be found here:

Course Length: BEFO w HMFRO: 79 hours, SCBA/IFO: 50 hours Combined: 129 hours
Prerequisites: Students must be physically capable of wearing SCBA and possess current medical clearance for SCBA use. Students not possessing this prerequisite will not be allowed to participate for their own safety. A completed “Training Authorization Letter” is required.
