Hair Transplant – What Happens When You Have a Hair Transplant?

A hair transplant involves moving healthy hair from one part of your scalp to another to help you have a fuller head of hair. It might be a treatment option for you if you have serious hair loss and have tried other treatments but haven’t found enough improvement. Your dermatologist will tell you if this is a good treatment option for your hair loss. They will also discuss the results you can expect, and whether they think you’re a good candidate for a hair transplant.무모증모발이식방법

A surgeon will clean your scalp and inject medicine to numb it before starting the procedure. They might use a technique called follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS), or follicular unit extraction (FUE). With FUSS, the surgeon removes a strip of skin with hair follicles from the back of your head, sets it aside and stitches the area closed. With FUE, the surgeon uses a tool to remove individual hair follicles from your scalp, which leaves tiny scars that blend in with the surrounding healthy hair.

Your doctor will then prepare the healthy hair follicles for transplantation. They might use a chemical or laser to do this, which doesn’t hurt and helps the new hair grow. Then they’ll add an antibiotic to the solution used to clean your scalp. They might have other team members help them plant the grafts. Once they’ve done that, your doctor will cover the transplanted hair with gauze or a bandage and put medicine on it to stop it from bleeding.

It might take a few weeks for the transplanted hair to start growing. It’s usually the same colour as your natural hair, so it shouldn’t stand out. But your original hair might continue to thin around the transplanted follicles, or you might have inflammation or an infection of the new follicles (called shock loss). If this happens, your dermatologist may prescribe medicine to treat it.

You might need to have a follow-up appointment with your dermatologist. They might ask you to show them some photos of your hair before and after the procedure. This will help them see how well the transplant has worked and if it’s had any side effects.

Like all cosmetic surgery, a hair transplant can go wrong. You might get severe pain, a bad scar or unnatural-looking new hair growth. You should try to find a cosmetic surgeon who’s registered with the General Medical Council (GMC). You can do this by looking at their GMC licence on the NHS Choices website. You can also check with the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery (BAHRS) to make sure they’re a member. If you’re not happy with your results, you can raise a concern with the GMC or the Care Quality Commission.모우다의원
