FARMEDIC COURSE IS FULL. NAMES WILL BE ADDED TO A WAIT LIST IN THE CASE OF NO-SHOWS.
The FARMEDIC Provider course is a program that teaches fire and emergency medical personnel the basics of responding to an agricultural emergency. The program also trains officer level staff how to manage an incident using the fundamentals of the National Emergency Management System. The use of incident command and scene safety will be stressed throughout the program. Farming is an occupation that exposes workers to many hazards. The key to survival involves not getting caught by these hazards. This program will lead participants through various scenarios that will force them to think about typical injury incidents and make proper decisions and reactions to them.
*We have a grant that will fund the cost of the course for 40 people, in conjunction with the insurance company paying for the instructor ($50/student). Minimum number of students is 20; less than 20, there may be some cost to the student, as the insurance company will not pay the instructor if there are less than 20 students.
Bangs Ambulance, the Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response and Slaterville Fire/Ambulance are jointly sponsoring this course.
Register at the Department of Emergency Response, 257-3888, prior to Sept. 2, 2012. Registrants will be notified of course details and start/end times.
