Hair Loss Treatment
Hair loss treatment begins with finding out what is causing the problem. Your dermatologist will ask you questions about your past health, diet and lifestyle to help narrow down the cause. Then they may perform a physical exam of your scalp and head and order blood tests to check your thyroid function, iron levels and cholesterol. They might also take a small biopsy of your scalp, which involves carefully removing several small sections of skin for lab testing. If they suspect you have an autoimmune disease, such as alopecia areata, classic Brocq pseudopelade, lichen planopilaris or discoid lupus erythematosus, they might prescribe corticosteroid medicines to reduce the immune system response and allow healthy hair to grow.부산탈모병원
The main treatment for hereditary pattern baldness is topical minoxidil (Rogaine) or prescription oral medication finasteride (Propecia, Dutasteride). They are available in either 2% or 5% concentrations and must be applied to the scalp daily. Hair transplant surgery is an option for men and women who want to permanently restore their hair. The procedure removes and relocates healthy hair follicles from other areas of the head where the hair is still thick and full, such as the back of the neck or the side of the forehead, to bald areas where the hair is thinner. Hair transplants are performed in a surgical clinic or hospital and may require several hours of treatment.
Hair restoration for men and women also includes wigs, camouflage sprays and hair plugs. These products are usually made of natural-looking synthetic hair that blends in with the rest of the scalp. They can be worn as a temporary solution to cover up thinning hair until the new hair grows in, or for people who don’t want to risk the risks associated with hair transplants or surgery.
Other types of hair loss can be reversed or treated with medications or changes in diet and lifestyle. Hormonal changes caused by pregnancy, childbirth, or menopause might cause temporary hair loss in some women. Other conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer or radiation therapy to the head, can cause hair loss that is permanent. A fungal infection of the scalp called tinea capitis can cause circular or patchy bald spots that look red and scaly and often fill with pus. It can be treated with antifungal medicines.
You should call your doctor right away if you start to lose your hair or notice other unexplained signs of illness, such as a fever, tiredness and swollen lymph nodes in the neck. Your doctor will then decide on the best course of action. Your doctor might also test for thyroid disease, which can cause sudden and unexplained hair loss. If the test is normal, they might prescribe other medications such as estrogen or spironolactone for premenopausal women and finasteride for men with male pattern baldness. In some cases, these medications might be used in conjunction with hair transplants or surgery to improve the results.부산모발이식
