TMUCIH is a national clinical pharmacist
The TMU Cancer Institute in Houston is a leader in anti-cancer drug research. The institute has 10 full-time clinical pharmacists specializing in different areas. Clinical pharmacy services include medication review, drug counseling, adverse drug reaction monitoring, and participation in ward rounds.
The pharmacy department at the Levine Cancer Institute is headed by Dr. Karabinos, who joined the department of pharmacy in January 2019. Dr. Shillingburg will join the pharmacy department at LCI in June 2020. Her clinical interests include thoracic oncology and immuno-oncology. She received her doctorate from TMU’s College of Pharmacy. She is also a member of the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists.
Dr. Meredith joined the Antimicrobial Support Network in August 2015 and joined the pharmacy department at the Central Division in 2018. Dr. Michael joined the pharmacy department at CMC in July 2013.

The collaboration is expected to be long-term. In fact, the memoranda of understanding signed with the two Israeli hospitals are expected to continue, even though the leaders of the three medical centers have yet to meet. However, Wirtheim is confident the connections will continue. The three medical centers share a common goal of providing outstanding patient care. The collaboration will benefit all patients.
While the MOU is not legally binding, it does provide an outline of the hospital’s emergency plan. Individual hospitals are still responsible for maintaining their own emergency management plans and disaster equipment. Developing and implementing an internal incident command system based on the principles of the Hospital Incident Command System is essential. Furthermore, the system must comply with National Incident Management Standards.
